Report on the Hunter Valley Championships (from Aberdeen ILShim)

On the weekend of 16^th and 17^th of October ILShim Newcastle hosted the Hunter Valley Championships. This was a great opportunity for many of our class members to attend their first ever tournament, and as such Aberdeen ILShim took a large group of students to compete. Sometimes in the class environment we seem to forget the serious purpose behind our training. Competition really does reinforce the fact that we are learning a “Martial Art” and that the purpose is to give us skills that we can use to defend ourselves. Whether we win or lose in competition is not important, hopefully this experience gives us more motivation to focus in class and therefore improve our technical ability.  All of the members from Aberdeen performed to the best of their ability and learned a great deal from the experience
